05659-M1296EURE- Journal- PUCK, Puck Building, Keppler & Schwarzmann. New York. Vol. XLIV, No.1121, Aug 31,1898. Front is full page chromolithograph of "Mr. Mars, God Of War" sitting atop his trunk blubbering because peace had been declared between Spain and U.S.; full center spread of Uncle Sam sheathing his sword and a Red Cross nurse binding the wounds of a Spanish soldier w/ images of  Spanish atrocities against native Americans hovering in clouds. Caption says: "Then And Now.  We Have Not Only Given A Lesson In War, But A Lesson In Humanity."  Back cover has full page w/domestic scene of Little Willie, Mama, and Grandma. Many other black and white illustrations throughout including one derogatory one by Gallaway of caricatured black gambler defending himself to his wife in dialect. Chromo artists are Dalrymple, Keppler and O'Neill Latham. A few corner and edge chips, some repaired edge tears. Generally good, however. Any of these illustrations would frame and display beautifully. 10-1/2" x 14" x 16pp. $38.00

04062-M0895LERC- Catalogue- TALBOT-LYNN, Lynn, MA. 1919. High quality, artsy little hard back book entitled "THE MAN." Line art after the manner of Charles Dana Gibson. "Arranged And Published Under The Supervision of Our Tailors At Fashion Park." They made uniforms during WWI and were using some good features of military cuts in civilian clothes. Each spread has serviceman with a particular style garment: "The Seaman - at home he wears the Trapley," or "The Major - at home he wears the Copley," etc., for some seven different garments. Neat piece! Very good condition. 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" x 16pp. $43.00


01575-M0393EEKE- Envelope- MUTUAL BENEFIT LIFE INSURANCE CO., Newark, NJ. 1919. L.D. Drewry, Gen Agent, Chattanooga, TN (w/canceled 3¢ Washington stamp). Mailed to a customer in Forbus, TN. Forbus is a little crossroads about three miles up the way from Pall Mall, TN, home of Sgt. Alvin C. York. This envelope is beautifully chromolithographed with a WWI sentry illustration looking surprisingly like Sgt. York. York was a hero in this area, even more so than nationally, and this could well have been playing to his popularity. Envelope has been torn off on the end, but chromo is well preserved. 6-1/2”x 3-1/8”. $22.00
